Easy to learn what is BOPP

Biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film is film stretched in both machine and transverse directions, producing molecular chain orientation in two directions.

BOPP stands for Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (aka plastic). It is one of the materials we offer for our roll labels. We offer it in solid white and clear with an option for white ink. Because it is made of plastic and not paper, BOPP is water and oil resistant.

BOPP films (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene Films) are produced by stretching polypropylene film in both machine direction and transverse direction. BOPP film is used in a vast range of applications comprising packaging, labeling, and lamination.

The ability to make clear BOPP film allows the creation of transparent labels to show off the contents of clear containers. With the appropriate inks and adhesives, BOPP labels can also be waterproof.

White BOPP labels are our most commonly used material and are suitable for most applications. White BOPP labels are made with polypropylene material and have a permanent adhesive. It is impervious to water and oils and is particularly suitable for bath and body products, as well as food and beverage products.

BOPP film is produced by a tubular process, in which a tubular bubble is inflated, or a tenter frame process, in which a thick extruded sheet is heated to its softening point (not to the melting point) and is mechanically stretched by 300–400%.

BOPP film is commonly used for applications that require moisture resistance, optical clarity and high tensile strength such as Food & Beverage Packaging. Medical Packaging. Personal Care Product Packaging.
